Setting the Stage: Ethical Thinking and AI Foundations
Wednesday August 26, 2026 9:00am - 9:45am EDT
Begin the day by strengthening our shared learning culture through ethical dilemmas that surface values, blind spots, and perspectives. After grounding ourselves as a community of thinkers, we shift into the fundamentals of generative AI, what it is, how it works, and why it matters for education. Through hands on exploration, guided prompts, and collaborative reflection, participants consider both the risks and possibilities of emerging tools while practicing strategies to communicate clearly with AI and coach others in doing the same.

Exploring Ethical Dilemmas and AI in Education: A Collaborative Approach
Wednesday August 26, 2026 9:45am - 10:30am EDT
We open with collaborative ethical dilemmas that encourage participants to listen deeply, challenge assumptions, and establish norms for courageous conversations. With that mindset in place, we explore the essentials of generative AI, its mechanics, applications, and implications, while experimenting with real tools and reflective prompts. By connecting values based thinking with technical understanding, participants build a foundation for navigating the opportunities and challenges AI brings to education.

Picking the Right Tool for the Right Job
Wednesday August 26, 2026 11:15am - 12:00pm EDT
We take a close look at NotebookLM along with ready made AI assistants to learn when each resource helps most. Participants build a custom Gem that supports their own work and compare what different tools can and cannot do. The goal is to recognize when to reach for a prompt, a Gem, a GPT, or NotebookLM so that AI becomes a practical partner rather than a novelty.

Work Time: Create, Build, and Apply
Wednesday August 26, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT
Teams have focused time to put ideas into action. Participants may create Gems, Notebooks, or prompts that support their work, or begin building curriculum units and supplemental materials. The purpose of this block is to move from exploration to creation by using generative AI as a partner in designing resources that support teaching and learning.

Wrap Up and Looking Ahead
Wednesday August 26, 2026 2:15pm - 3:00pm EDT
We come together as a full group to reflect on what we learned, what we created, and what we will do next. Using an exit ticket protocol, participants share insights, questions, and commitments while connecting with others across teams. The focus is on carrying forward a clearer understanding of how generative AI can support instruction and the importance of ongoing curiosity and reflection.
